One thing we will never deny ourselves is LIPSTICK! Always on the lookout for a good cream matte, there’s a few key elements that make up our favorites. Beyond the color itself, how pigmented is the product? How does it feel on application? — Is it smooth or does it clump immediately? (yuck!) Can it be layered? Is it easily transferrable? (meaning: Will I have this lipcolor all over my face and everything my mouth touches by the end of the day?) And last, but certainly not least, does it feel dry while wearing throughout the day?

Another important element of finding a good lipstick, is having a good liner to pair it with. Having the right liner can really make or break the finished look, especially for women of color. Applying a lip color that’s too light without the appropriate liner can leave us looking ashy while applying a dark color without a good liner can turnout to be very messy and uneven. Needless to say, finding the perfect combo can be quite rewarding — small victories, ladies.

Tint Beauty is covering a lot of these elements with their new mythical lip duos. There’s 4 colors that make up the line — 2 neutrals and 2 brights — and each comes with a matte cream lipstick and matching lip liner. The colors are great for everyday wear and are very versatile. And they can be used in combination with colors you already have in your lip collection.

Each lip cream has a very smooth application and is layerable. There is no clumping and it feels pretty moisturizing even though it drys down with a matte finish. The two bright colors ( Forever After + Fairytale ) are metallics with a matte finish. For brown girls, I would suggest playing around with the lip liners. Possibly use your own favorite that compliments the lip color. We found that the liners, although they match the lipstick, they are not quite as pigmented which makes it hard to show up on our skin. Check the duos out for yourself at www.tintbeauty.com for $16 + free shipping — which is definitely a steal. In our opinion, the lipstick alone is worth the money even if you are pairing with your own liner.
