This time last year my skin was giving me the blues. I just could not figure out what the problem was. The products I had been using for years were not working and I was suffering bad breakouts and skin irritation in the process of trying to find the problem. When my body starts treating me like this, I like to simplify what I’m using and incorporate more natural remedies. This helps me control the ingredients I’m using and saves money because I’m not buying a bunch of new products to “try”.
I’ve been using this scrub for several months on my face and body and love how it leaves my skin feeling. – Whit
- 1 cup of white (or brown) sugar
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey
- 3 tablespoons of Unrefined Coconut Oil
- 2 teaspoons of natural Lemon Juice
- Choice of essential oils — peppermint oil and lavender (my favorites)
This scrub is pretty abrasive so it is not recommend using on your face daily. You can use it every few days or once a week depending on how your skin is feeling. Follow up with your normal face routine. This is great to use as a body scrub to leave your skin looking radiant and glowy in the summer time. The lemon juice can also help to fade dark spots due to hyperpigmentation gradually over time. To make, combine all ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Add more oil to the recipe to make less abrasive. Once it’s fully mixed, transfer to an airtight container for storing. The scrub will last about 3 months.
